Bad design makes me cry...
Design and I find our way back to one another without fail. It's a language I've spoken for over 14-years, refined daily. Over the last five years, God revealed that I am much more than a designer, yet design creates the paradigm for how I think, speak, and feel.
God created me to solve problems strategically with the visual experience to back them. Contrary to popular belief, design is not art—it's problem-solving.
Good design takes a brand or business from mediocre to thought-leaders in their industry.
Good design helps people navigate from point a to b with the least amount of visual strain possible.
Good design is strategic, with 5-star excellence to back it.
At the core of my being is the wiring to eliminate injustice in the industry of design, technology, and race by empowering change-makers to be the best version of themselves. The culture of a company starts from leadership down. The client experience reflects the team's morale.
To be the best version of ourselves, we must understand the power of our voice, story, and personal branding obtained through vulnerability and consistency (discipline).
Why am I writing this?
Because it is okay to give God the idea of who you think you are so he can refine it. He reveals more of our identity as we actively obey and follow him.
I've tried for the last 5-years to abandon design for good, looking to pivot into law and acting. Shoot, I moved halfway across the country to pursue a law degree that God said no to after I arrived.
I had a come to Jesus moment with my mom the other day, and through her, I heard God clear as day—become the best version of who you are with what you already have!
I don't aspire to be better than anyone else. I desire to be the best version of myself. My prayer is that I become so highly skilled in my secular skill that everything I do for ministry is free.
Design is the vehicle, and everything else becomes passengers down for the ride. #keepgoing
