Is this thing on?
God desires a relationship with us more than anything. He instructs us to seek the Kingdom of God above all else, AND live righteously, AND he will give you everything you need.
That’s Matthew 6:33.
Seek the Kingdom of God above all else
Live righteously
As a result, seeking the Kingdom of God before anything else and living righteously results in God giving us everything we need.
✿ God knows what we need even when we don’t. The question becomes, what do we consider a need that this merely a want?
We have to venture up a few verses to get the full context of what God is speaking of when he says he will give you everything you need.
Matthew 6:25-29 “That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing? Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are?” And why worry about your clothing? Look at the lilies of the field and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing,” Yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are.”
We have to come face to face with our “stinking thinking.” Those thoughts tell us to worry as if God is not already in the future. He is the beginning and the end. Therefore, nothing in the middle catches God by surprise.
Matthew 6:30 “And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have little faith?”
It’s true.
Why we trippin’?
Matthew 6:31-32 “So don’t worry about these things, saying ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs.”
History with God tells us he is faithful to complete what He started We are not expected to know all the details before we agree. God desires our compliance—period. It’s in this space our faith is tested and grown. Never remove God from the equation, even in discomfort. He should be the first one we greet in the morning and the last to say goodnight to in the evenings.
He is there.
He knows.
He is orchestrating our steps.
We are righteous because God is righteous. A way of living—not thriving.
Obedience is the key.
