Sin has entered the camp—and it's time to remove the source.
As I studied the book of Joshua, the Lord revealed a strategy for us to continue allowing him to prune our hearts. We have turned a blind eye to the sin of those around us—not using our voice to help lead our fellow brothers and sisters back to what God originally intended.
Why? Because we've confused our assignment to be led by Holy Spirit as a worldly standard of judgment.
Do not be deceived.
As children of God, we have a duty to help our fellow siblings remain. This next outpour of Christ will ONLY be given from a place of worship.
What worship is NOT: a song :)
Alright, Read Joshua 5:14-15. (I encourage you to read the entire book of Joshua, a strategy book for NOW).
Joshua 5:14-15: And he said, “No; but I am the commander of the army of the Lord. Now I have come.” And Joshua fell on his face to the earth and worshiped and said to him, “What does my lord say to his servant?” And the commander of the Lord's army said to Joshua, “Take off your sandals from your feet, for the place where you are standing is holy.” And Joshua did so.
The strategy for victory will ONLY come after worship occurs. Worship is NOT a song. It's a heart posture. Too many of us are signing songs in our pulpits that were birthed with the wrong intentions—selah.
You worship what you do not know; we worship what we know, for salvation is from the Jews. But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.” (John 4: 22-24).
Tony Evans Commentary: To worship the Father in Spirit is to have a heart in pursuit of an intimate relationship with God who is SPIRIT.
To worship in truth is to worship him in a biblically accurate way through the one who is the truth. God is on the hunt for those who will worship him spiritually through Jesus Christ based on the truth of his word.
Praying in the spirit has nothing to do with the gifts of tongues and everything to do with praying from a heavenly perspective based on WHO God is...
NEW WINE can not go into old wineskin...
Alright, flip to Jude 1:20 - But you, beloved, building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit...
Tony Evans Commentary: Pray with a spiritual mindset, in concert with God's desires and design based on God's word.
God gives us his battle plan in worship, AND it will NEVER look like what it initially looked like. We've turned old moments of encounter into doctrine—and God's not there.
The consequences of sin still happen. Our unrepented idols and devotion to false movements keep us from moving forward. Did you ever ask God if he was in the latest sounds?
If you read Joshua 7, you’ll learn that Isreal was defeated by an army God initially told them they had dominion over… We KNOW God is not a man that should lie (Numbers 23:19), so Joshua inquires about what’s happening.
Joshua 7:10-13: The Lord said to Joshua, “Get up! Why have you fallen on your face? Israel has sinned; they have transgressed my covenant that I commanded them; they have taken some of the devoted things; they have stolen and lied and put them among their own belongings. Therefore the people of Israel cannot stand before their enemies. They turn their backs before their enemies, because they have become devoted for destruction. I will be with you no more, unless you destroy the devoted things from among you. Get up! Consecrate the people and say, ‘Consecrate yourselves for tomorrow; for thus says the Lord, God of Israel, “There are devoted things in your midst, O Israel. You cannot stand before your enemies until you take away the devoted things from among you.”
Constant communion WITH GOD reveals fresh insight and destroys sin in the camp. It is not about praying in tongues or ushering people into the presence through song. It’s about having a one-on-one connection with the Father through Spirit and Truth, as he leads us to do HIS will, not what we deem because our flesh refuses to die. Those idols have made us numb. #keepgoing
